Is the smell that comes from garbage bins bad for you if you breathe it in?
Question:When taking out the trash or opening our bin, I always wonder after years of having that terrible smell waft up at you, is it possible that it's bad for your health by inhaling it? It's so rancid it can't be any good.

What you are smelling most is the methane gas that the rotting garbage (food) is letting off, and liek any gas you are better off to minimize the amount you take in, although the amount you get taking out the trash won't kill you. I would not recommend setting up camp there.
i have always thought that too... and... if smeelly people walk by... i hold my breath... maybe its just a superstition i have. i have always wondered if it was true. i was also very OCD like monk... maybe even worse.. but i am better, i still hold my breath tho. i guess some things can never be cured!

It can't be good for you. All of that "trash" setting in the bag rottening. Try not to breathe it in.
