How do I remove red wine stains on my dress that has been left on for days?

Question:I sent it to the dry cleaners immediately the next morning but they called me a week later to inform me that they are not confident of removing the stains. Hence, applying any solvent like soda water or salt to absorb the wine will not be effective anymore. Please help! It's a new dress and a precious birthday gift!

Answers:
I would soak it for a week in oxyclean 1spoonful per quart.

It worked for me. I had a stain on my cordoroy pants (almond) from hard candy that was there for at least six months. When i soaked them in oxyclean for a week the dye had come out. I was elated! Hope the same result happens to you if you decide to use oxyclean.

For the amount of hydrogen peroxide you would need to get the wine stains out if indeed it works on wine (I know it works on blood) would cost you more compared to using oxyclean.
Oxyclean is gentler on your clothes too.

you better chalk it up to a loss, you would probably have had better luck if it had been treated immediately.
Try something with an oxygen base. The simple form would be to use hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. I don't know the color or fabric of the dress but if it is cotton or polyester you have a good chance of it working. After you apply the paste leave it on for about 10 minutes. Then blot. If it is starting to come out, put a little more peroxide on it and leave it for 10 minutes more. Keep repeating the process until there is just the lightest of marks and then launder as usual.

Good Luck.
The only other suggestion would be hydrogen peroxide. My husband uses it on his nurses scrubs to get blood stains off that has been on for a couple of days.
