How can I remove hard water stains from glass (windows/ mirrors)?
Question:I have tried CLR but it does not work, vinegar cleans the glass but does not remove stains, razors tend to scratch and so does scrubing it with scrub pads...any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would try apple cider vinegar straight it is a bit stronger and rinse well also try WD40 on a rag. it is a good water repellent.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, in other words, stop putting hard water on your windows and mirrors. Either use softened water or distilled water on them. With that said, try Dow, or other brand, of foaming bathroom cleaner. That should remove the water stains but will leave a film on the glass, then use the vinegar, straight, to finish the job. (My mother use straight ammonia on hers.) Hope this helps.
We have found formula 409 glass and surface cleaner works quite well
Soak it down with white vinegar and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat if necessary. Then if you can find it use a glass polish. The calcium won't stick to it as easily
If you are using straight razors they should not scratch. i clean all my windows with razors
Try Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner. Just spray it on wait a few minutes then rinse it off while wiping it with a wet sponge. I use it in my glass shower and it does the trick. Follow up (if you have to) with some vinegar or windex if you don't like the smell vinegar gives off while cleaning with it.
Hope this helps.
If CLR or Lime-Away don't work, then I wonder if you have hard water stains. A hard water stain is nothing more than calcium and magnesium, these are the 2 elements that cause hard water. Both of the above cleaning agents will remove hard water stains. A razor (straight type safety blade in a razor scraper) will not scratch glass if used properly. Lay the razor ALMOST flat and scrape the individual stains, trust me, if they are hard water stains, they WILL come off.
Try baking soda...it's safe for glass surfaces.
