Take it from a man with a 4 children. This is a "loaded" question. Washers are an item of convenience. How much laundry do you do? Some washers are designed to do a small load to accomodate a singe person living on their own, and others are monsters designed to hold twelve houses and a semi. Just be careful not to buy one just because it is prettier than the rest and it cost more...unless of course you just want a pretty one.

The prices vary as do the models, but you can't beat the quality anywhere. I've owned alot of machines and I always go back to Kenmore

Hmm, if I had been asked this question 30 years ago, I would've immediately answered the same as some of the others who've answered this question. I would've also said "Kenmore".
Today, 2007, things are, shall we say, quite different. My first Kenmore washer lasted 21 years. My second Kenmore washer lasted 11 years. My third washing machine is a front load Whirlpool washer. I absolutely love it and if I were you, I would look in Consumer Reports for the final word on washers. They are unbiased and fair and usually on the mark. Good luck!
