My white socks don't stay white! I use bleach, too. Please help!?
Question:Bleach doesn't work, soaking them in bleach water doesn't work; anyone know what WILL work. They're my husbands socks and how they get so dirty on the bottom, i will never know. Any suggestions?

What kind of water do you have? If it's high in iron, there's your answer.
My hubby's white socks get awfully dirty because the soil we have is degenerated granite and it literally stains fabric when it is moist. There are a couple of ways to remove the dirt and grime. Pre-treat the soles of the socks with either ZOUT or Fels-Naptha soap worked up into a good lather. When you soak the socks in bleach add a couple of drops of Mrs. Stewarts bluing for extra whiteness and your regular detergent. Mrs. Stewarts will make them eye popping white.
Try RIT Whitener and Brightener Laundry Treatment. I have hard water, and keeping whites white is hard (even with bleach), but the RIT Whitener stuff works like a charm. RIT also has something called "white wash" that I haven't tried, but might also work.
have you tried a detergent with a whitener in it? this usually works,I too like to walk around with my socks on,I dont do this constantly I use slippers not to get the socks too dirty. If I were you I would alternate between bleach and the whitener, see what happens.good luck!
Use Cascade dish washer detergant... the powder. Fill your washer to the lowest setting, with hot water, add 1/4 c - 1/3 c Cascade. Soak socks for a few hours or overnight. Then fill your washer the rest of the way (where you usually would) and add your regular detergant. Wash as usual! Works like a charm!
