The Magic Eraser may work, depending on the wall surface. It's a sponge-like thing made by Mr Clean.
Also, hairspray removes ink, so several tries with that may work.
Unfortunately, most chemicals that remove permamnet marker also remove paint. You may have to put KILZ over it & repaint.
Try something like nail varnish remover or turpentine or paint thinners. In fact try anything that is spirit based
HAHAHAHAHAHA!! I remember when I did that when I was a kid. I got whooped so badly. Try rubbing alcohol with a sponge with a green scratch pad. That's what I had to use back then.
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser...it really works.
Knock the wall down, that will get rid of it.
i would sand it off
The problem with indelible markers or inks is trying to figure out what solvent will dissolve it best. Often a combination of solvents works better than using just one. A good all around product is called "Goo Gone". It's going to take lot's of rubbing either way. If this doesn't work, you might just consider sanding the area and repainting it. Lowe's or Home Depot can help you match the paint. It's a lot of work, but if it is a large amount of wall the child scribbled on, it's easier and faster than rubbing indelible marker with a solvent for days.
Bleach, I had the same problem.
If you don't want to use straight bleach, get some Clorox clean up, and spray on, that should do it.
Good luck
