What is a good vacuum for pet hair?

Question:besides the dyson, because that is a little pricey. all my vacuums keep breaking, and I think it's because of the amount of cat hair that I vacuum on a daily basis... I have 2, VERY hairy cats!

Answers:
I have a Fantom Fury. After 12 years I need to get it serviced but it does a very decent job. However I've only had my cats for 4 years and most of my place is hardwood.

For sheer reliability Filter Queens are fantastic, but I think they're even more expensive than Dyson. Incidentally, Dysons clean very well but have a poor reliability rating. See Daily Mirror link below

cheap easy and will hold tons of animal fur is a small shop vac with attachments...
I have a regular old vaccuum and I use Arm and Hammer pet hair release powder. You just shake it on and then wait 15 minutes and vaccuum. Works great for my house with 2 black long hair cats.
