Clothes line?
Question:Hi There!
We just move into our first home about 6 weeks ago. And we have a clothes line. Which I love because the clothes smell so great after they dry. Here is the thing, the clothes get stiff when they are drying on the line. How do I prevent this from happening? I would like them to feel like they came out of the dryer.
Also how many of you use your clothes line during the winter? Normal temp here gets cold. About 55 degress during the winter time. Burrrr! Thank Goodness Summer is around the courner! :o)
Thanks for your help!

I use my clothes line 12 months of the year. I even hang during a snow storm ( NW OH) I love it. Yes, the clothes are stiff, but my electric bill loves it. I do put my permanent press in the dryer, after they are dry. It makes them soft and wearable.
Sorry clothes dried on the line will never exactly like they came out of the dryer. All you can do is use plenty of fabric softener in the wash.
Thats the downaide to line dried clothes, I love them too, but the stiffness is terrible. You can use a liquid softener in the wash and it might help some, but they will still be a little crunchy. I have found though, that tossing them in the dryer for a few minutes (5 to 10) and then hanging them out, gets the best results. Good luck and happy hanging!
I do the opposite of MY Two Cents.
I wash my clothes with fabric sofener of course, hang them out and when they are almost dry (you can just barely feel dampness) I take them down and throw them in the dryer for 5-10 min. Works like a charm every time.
