freeze it and then vacuum it. That will o do the trick.
take a ziplock plastic bag, fill it with ice , place on top of the stain, wait 15-20 mins by that time the gum will harden and you can peel it off
Put ice on the gum until it freezes and peel it off.
ice or try peanut butter or mayo. The grease in these will loosen it.
Zippo lighter fluid. Pour some onto a rag. Work it into the gum. It will dissolve the gum completely. Then just air it out, the fluid with evaporate. Works great and leaves no residue. Have been using this method for about 20 years and hasn't failed yet. Of course do not use near an open flame. Hope this helps.
Pour baby oil onto the gum. Rub it in. Depending on the carpet, use a plastic comb, or plastic spatula, or even your fingernail and scrap up the gum. It will come up easily. Spot clean up the baby oil with dish soap and water.
I have 3 kids, and have removed gum from every conceivable surface. Baby oil works the best, and it the easiest to clean up afterwards.
