Dog was sprayed by a skunk, got inside and rolled on the carpet. How do I get the smell out?

Question:

Answers:
Lots and lots of white vinegar. Anything acidic will neutralize it but white vinegar won't stain or damage your carpet. If you have a carpet cleaning machine, fill the soap tank with straight white vinegar. It'll stink until it dries but once it dries, all odor (including the skunk) will be gone.

Good Luck!

Wash it with tomatoes! [LOL]
burn the house down
Oh, man, I thought I was having a bad day!! Yikes. I don't know, the only thing I can think of is to call the company where you bought the carpet and ask them, or a carpet cleaning service might know. Good luck with that one!
There is an enzyme cleaner that works. I believe it was called "Skunk Out". It looks like a plain bottle with black lettering. It has been a while since I have had to use it so I can see the package in my mind but can't recall the name. We used to live by a river where there were lots of skunks and my dogs would get sprayed. This enzyme could be used on the dog and any fabrics that came into contact. I would get it at Petco where in the dog stain section.
Use Zero Odor, it might help. I got mine from the web site. Good luck.
Contact your vet they carry products for this
