I have a camelcack water pack. It is stained and smells. How do I clean and sanitize it?
Question:Water has been in it for too long. Stains are in the bag and look like rust or mold
Answers:
try baking soda.
Mix a solution of 1 part bleach to 5 parts water, and let it sit over night. Rinse well.
Fill it with white vinegar and let it set for a few days then clean it out with lots of water
To sanitise & rid the smell, use white vinegar. Let it soak a day or so. Vinegar has a natural disinfectant in it.
Do NOT use bleach; it will damage the plastic.
I use 5 efferdent--denture cleaner--tablets in mine.
With a full tank of hot water. Then rinse thoroughly. I have a cleaning kit I bought at the same time I bought the Camelbak; it has brushes to clean out the hose. I remove the mouth piece, and soak it in a little dish with it's own efferdent tablet
and water. Next time be sure to uncap it and dry it out.
If that does not work, you might be able to buy a new bladder
for it. I did that when I sprung a leak.
