My husbby went fishing in my car, he got fish cleaned them put them in trunk and forgot it stinks!!!?
Question:My whole care smells awfull the hotter it gets the grosser is smells Anyone know a good way to get the stink out?
( it did not get on my car just left in a bag in a box)
I have washed the carpet in the trunk I have tried charcol too neither worked.
Answers:
Odor permeated the carpet. Clean the carpet. In your case, remove it from the trunk to clean it. Leave it in the sun. Wipe down the inside of the trunk with a mild bleach solution, 1 part bleach to 5 parts water. Leave the trunk open and let it air out. After 4 hours, put it all back together and spray some Fabreeze or similar product.
Be sure to remove the fish. That's a start.
try sprinkling baking soda inside the car. it should absorb the smell. you can also try a warm water solution with ammonia.
as a fishermen myself i find ur story untrue i have never left fish in the car i never forgot that i caught a fish and left it so i find this to be untrue you know when u catch a fish and spend the time cleaning it that you wont forget it
The only other thing I can think of try Oda Ban I use this stuff for cleaning it is good on pet stains and smells. This product is used in hospitals and will disinfect. You can use it for a deodorizer too.
It may take a few times. Also I just thought of Downy Fabric Softener sheets. Put lots in your car keep changing them until the smell goes away.
My husband is a nurse and they hang fabric softener sheets in the rooms on the ICU floor.
If that does not work I would try to find a car detail-er locally and have them clean the inside of your car they may have products to get rid of the smell.
I hope this helps.......
Rent a steam cleaner with an upholstery attachment.
I would recommend using two things..
1. Use baking soda ... sprinkle lavishly on the carpet or anywhere that stinks ..leave overnight or longer ..vacuum afterwards
2. Then wipe down with white vinegar .. allow to dry and clean with detergant ...
