Does anyone know what the pause in the perma press and knit cycle is for?

Question:The perma press and knit cycle in the washing machines is what I am refering to.

Answers:
It is just a slight pause before it drains and spins and sometimes before it refills. It's just to let the clothes settle so they don't get caught in the agitator. (Different machines do it differently.) I hope this is what you were asking about. Your question is a little vague. (I was a dry clean operations manager for 4 years. I had to know the ins and outs of the dry cleaner and the washers. And I'm a mom of 5)
