get rid of the popcorn ceiling. not sure why anyone ever thought that looked good in a house.
it's so messy if u were to do it by yourself get a scarper but it's best to get a pro
Usually a feather duster is enough to remove residue. In areas with high humidity and near the kitchen, oil can mix with the dust, making it a bit more stubborn. A vacuum wand with a brush attachment should remove this without causing excessive damage to the textured surface. If a vacuum is not the solution, use caution as anything more aggressive will likely damage the ceiling. You might consider re-painting, instead of altering the finish of the ceiling in that one isolated area. There are actually aerosol ceiling paints, which are usually used for water stains, which you could likely employ in this situation.
I would say just use a scraper or sandpaper. Then paint over it.
With a "brush" attachment to a vacuum cleaner.
There is no good way to clean popcorn ceilings! If you want call out a professional as if you scrap it you1ll have a ugly messy place. Been there and done that!
uSE a FEATHER DUSTER or a SWIFFER DUSTER is probably better (you'll just have to see which works best). But if you decide to get rid of the POPCORN (something I'm going to do too), make sure you contact a plasterer or a Handyman Outfit (a make sure they send a SKILLED PLASTERER or DONT PAY for a messy job), but get one lined up to refinish your ceiling. It cost me $125 to have my bedroom ceiling plastered (14 x 14 room). So get a quote b4 you even scrape the POPCORN off!
To get the PC off, get a spray bottle that makes a good mist and wet a 4 x 4 foot section or so at a time. Soak til it's saturated -- it will look real soft and mushy. Have a 6" to 10" scrapper (whatever you're more comfortable with, 6" or 8" is probly best). As soon as it's soft simply slide the scrapper along the base of the PC goop and it'll slide off and onto your WELL plastic-drop-clothed floor! When drops get full you can roll up & throw away !
It's a lot of Messy Fun !
GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!... Aunt Barbie
Bottle of water and a floor scraper or knock down trowel spray it then scrape it off.
The best to clean is use a vacuum-- if its stained at all then you have to paint w/ latex- if you want it off then wet w/ a sponge or spray bottle and scrape w/ a 4in drywall knife, (the more wet the easier it comes off)- neil /Munro products.
goggles, a spray bottle filled with detergent/water mixed
Spray bottles take too long--use a pump sprayer (a clean one), the kind you use to put chemicals on a lawn. Spray the PC ceiling with warm water, working on small areas at a time. Use a small plastic scraper, one with a lot of flexibility, to scrape off the PC. Put down plastic sheeting or some other tarp on the floor because this is messy. Don't use too much force to scrape the PC off or you will wind up gouging the ceiling. Then texture the ceiling, and paint it --it needs a primer coat and then a color coat.
