Nail polish remover takes off just about everything. don't get it on the black lines around the ball, just on the ink you want to remove.
Just return the ball to who you stole it from and buy a new one!
You can buy a permanent marker remover from Office Depot or Staples. I'd go there and ask.
Paint orange over it..

It sounds weird, but if you spray it with Aquanet (the old
fashioned hair spray that they still sell) and simultaneously
wipe it with a square cotton pad...it'll come right off. Same
thing works for ink stains on clothing. Also...windex takes
out just about everything.P.S. You have to wipe it off bit
by bit using a spray and fast wipe as you go.
Nail polish remover (with acetone) or just straight acetone works great. Just don't get it on the black lines. I used it once to remove some "bad words" I had written on the back of a stall door when I was in elementary school. It got the permanent marker out without damaging the paint.
