Stained microwave oven..help?
Question:Someone cooked popcorn in the microwave a little too long and it burned. However I got rid of the smell with a bowl of lemon water but the whole interior is discolored. Is it possible to get it white again. I tried magic eraser.
Answers:
Take baking soda and sprinkle it around inside the oven. Take a microfiber cloth or paper towel and dampen it in water. Rub the baking soda around inside the microwave with the damp paper towel/microfiber cloth. It'll take it right out.
I would boil a cup of vingar water in it. Then try to scrub it off...Try the magic eraser after the boiling.. Good Luck
If the interior of the micro is plastic, it may have absorbed the smoke from the burning and you may not be able to remove it. That being said, try products made to remove smoke damage, like the non-toxic Krud Kutter. I had a chimney fire a few months ago and it was the only thing I could find that removed soot, smoke, and burn damage & discoloration from any of the plastics I had in the house. I found it at Lowes and used it straight.
I cleaned house professionally for 18 years and I have cleaned many Microwaves and I would spray the inside with Fantastic or Clorox spray and let it set for 5 to 10 minutes. Then clean as usual.Repeat if needed.
If you take a bowl of water and lemon juice- put it in the microwave and turn it on high. It should clean the black out of the microwave. It will make it so all you have to do is wipe it out with a paper towell.
Folks, the inside of your microwave is NOT PLASTIC!! It is metal, painted with a special paint!! Microwaves penetrate plastic!! Why do you think you can reheat things in plastic containers?
Norton2628 has the solution!
