How do i get soft water from hard water?

Question:turn hard water to soft water

Answers:
get a water softener

You'll need a water softener.

It will need regular maintenance.

You could use a process of reverse osmosis or distillation, but a softener would be cheaper.
Ammonia softens up hard water. Put 1/2 to 1 cup of ammonia into your washing machine along with your regular laundry detergent and you will find that your clothes come out clean and very fresh smelling. Remember, don't add bleach if you have put in ammonia. Lethal combination.

If you want to soften the water in your whole house, you will have to install a water softener. Its a device that it put on the main water line after it comes into your house. We had one when we lived out in the country with well water, it worked very well.
Amonia softens it but for more than a gallon you will need a water softener. The reverse osmossis systems do not soften the water but they take out the minerals making it hard and provide the cleanest water.

Both will prolong the life of all your major appliances so although they are not cheap, they are worth the money.

If you can't afort reverse osmosis the softener will still provide you some benefits but the RO system is the way to go if you can foot the bill.
