Does anyone know a way to get Baby Oil out of bed sheets, and a cotton quilt?
Question:I washed it, and didn't notice the stain and already dried it once, so I'm afraid it's set in for good. Any advice?
Answers:
pretreat the baby oil stain with shout or a little bit of liquid detergent.
put a towel down next time. TMI.
if you washed and dried it, chances are that it's set in. try a grease remover. it lifts the oil.
spray a stain remover on it.
Try Dawn dish detergent. It gets most oils out of fabric! I learnt that in Biology.
Oil Stains
Oil stains may include butter, hand cream or lotion. As soon as possible, spread surface with an absorbent fine powder such as whiting or even corn starch. After short time brush to remove and reapply more powder. Let stand 24 hours.
To remove: Scrub with hot, sudsy (detergent) solution and stiff brush. Or wipe with ammonia-dampened cloth. In either case, then rinse and wipe dry. If these alkaline solutions don't remove all the oil, you can try a solvent. Make a poultice dampened with acetone or amyl acetate (available at drug stores), or with home dry cleaning fluid. Use good ventilation with windows open to remove fumes, do not use near spark or flame, and do not leave on too long.
Rub some Goop hand cleaner on the stain & wash in at least warm if not hot water.
Grease, oil, tar
Method 1: Use powder or chalk absorbents to remove as much grease as possible. Pre-treat with detergent or nonÂflammable dry cleaning solvent, or liquid shampoo. Wash in hottest water safe for fabric, using plenty of detergent.
Method 2: Rub spot with lard and sponge with a non-flammable dry cleaning solvent. Wash in hottest water and detergent safe for fabric.
Good Luck !
I have used Dawn Power Dissolver...it comes in a spray bottle, and you can find it by the dish detergent. It has gotten set in grease stains out of my work shirts, and it did not fade them at all.
If you put it in the dryer after washing it I'm afraid it is possibly too late, the heat would have set the stain.
If not dish soap is a great grease cutter & try soaking it in BIZ over night
