Take a small plastic tub and fill it with white vinegar, Put that on the floor near a door knob, and then take the jacket and hang it on a hanger, and cover it with a black large garbage bag,hang the jacket on the door knob, and place the white vinegar on the floor, under the bag, Vinegar is an odor eater and what you want to do. is leave it overnight, so that the odor will be gone in the morning.

You dont say what the atricle is. Is it clothing? If so have it dry cleaned. Is it furniture or car seats? Call a carpet and upholstery cleaning company and see if they clean leather.
Aside from taking it to the cleaners to have it cleaned, I would recommend hanging it outside where it can air out and get a little sun.

I just put it outside for about 1 day and it was pretty fresh
also puttinf febreeze in the areas where it cant get u wet helps
1] spray the inside [ lining ] with unscented Oust. Stand about three feet away to gently 'mist' the outside.
Hang up outdoors, in the shade, for a day or two. This worked on my son's leather jacket.

I would first air it outside in the shade for a couple of days. If that doesn't do anything, I'd try wiping it off with damp cloth, and again airing it outside. I think the stinker is the lining. If it's the kind you can take out, then take it out, and send it to the cleaners. If you can't try very, very lightly spraying it with a mist of febreeze, and again, air it outside. what about changing the story from a Leather jacket to a suede on - some suede can be machine washed - - - just a thought.
