How do i remove a streak/smudge on my leather car seats?
Question:I just bought a used car from a private owner. The previous owner made the smudge with some kind of black rubber. Most likely from a breifcase or black soled shoe. I have tan leather seats and the smudge is thick on the surface and lookes to have bonded with the leather somehow. (They must have really dug into the leather hard to get it on there so good.) I have tried a mr. clean magic erraser with warm water...but no luck yet.
Answers:
Saddle Soap, or Meguiar's leather care.
Either one should do the trick. Be prepared to do all the seats, as the clean spot will stand out.
Try a pencil eraser, lightly of course.
Leather needs to be cleaned with saddle soap or neats-foot oil.
Use a water based foam cleaner. If this does not work and as you say the mark is well adhered to the finish on the leather you will need to contact a leather specialist as they will need to use solvents to remove the mark which will involve replacing finish on the leather.
Clean and protect your leather seats with good quality products and they will look good for ages.
