How do you get out pen ink from 100% cotton clothing?

Question:My daughter decided to write with a ball point pen on her new white capris. Any suggestions to get it out?

Answers:
my mon would spray it with hairspray and then wash it
my grandma insists on washing it seperately and adding 1 can of coke, not pepsi when you wash it
crazy but I've seen it work

Rubbing alcohol, put a pad of paper toweling or some rags underneath where she wrote (between the legs if it is there) and blot on rubbing alcohol. You are forcing the ink through the fabric onto the toweling. It may take a lot of blotting but it will remove it eventually. If you want instanteous gratification, there is a product you can buy at the discounters by GooGone called InkAway which removes it on first application.
bleach
hairspray and a scrub brush
Bleach
Soak it (especially the stain area) in a container with bleach mixed in water...not too much bleach though...1 part liquid bleach and 3 parts water... or you could go for 50-50 since its white but 1:3 is a safer option for the material's health..don't soak it for too long.also to avoid the color spreading...u cud have a few drops of bleach directly on the stain & then soak it...although that could possibly harm the cloth...
hope this helps...
Alcohol will likely just make the ink spread, I've had good results by spraying the stain with hair spray and then washing it according to the label instructions, check the pants before you put them in the dryer, if the stain it still there, treat them again and rewash.
If you dry the pants with the stain still there it will set it forever!!
Good luck.
Try hairspray first. It may take several treatments, but you should be able to get most of it out. I just tested it out to see if it would work with a non-aerosol hairspray...and it did. I tested it out on a cotton diapers rag to see if it would, and I mean I really marked the heck out of the diaper. But then I saturated the diaper, did some rubbing, then rinsed and kept repeating until I got most of the ink out. And if that doesn't do the trick...get some De-Solv-It. Good stuff.

Here's a site to read about it. I keep that on my shelf at all times too. But we all seem to have hairspray on our shelves too.
I use an organic product called Thieves. You can get it online at www.moldrx4u.com I use it on everything in my house and it works great. It's also wonderful for killing mold. Check it out
