A friend, who is a professional maid advised me to use car wax on my tiles in my shower. Anyone know of this?

Question:She says it not only makes it shiny AND more importantly protects against rust, mold etc.

Answers:
I suppose this would work on tilework on the splashwalls (not on the tile work in the floor, if you have it). What you are doing is sealing the tiles from intrusion by water etc., much like applying a varnish or polyurethane to wood. This process will have to be repeated, since water will eventually cut through the wax. I'd suggest applying a good grout sealer first, then if you want to "shine" the tiles with wax, fine.

Sounds like a good idea. I can't see why it wouldn't work.
Never heard of it, try it on a tile first and see how it does before applying to the whole surface
i agree with the guy above i've never heard of it but i'd try it on one tile before doing the whole shower
I had new bathroom vanities installed and they told me to use car wax on them, so I don't know why it wouldn't work for the shower tiles, too. I think I would do as someone else suggested and seal the grout first, though.
