Got a new dishwasher, are the hyped up tablets worth paying extra for?
Question:Is it really worth paying that little bit extra for Finish 5in1 tablets or whatever their latest invention is? What do you use, and how effective do you find it?
Answers:
if you hunt around in the bargain shops like savers or summat you'll find the same product, i.e. finish or fairy far cheaper than other retail outlets! shop around.
i use tesco ones that have the little ball in the middle and there fine....but if you want your glasses to sparkle like crazy and help protect them from the heat of cracking then its finish all the way..but they cost a small fortune over time
I fnd asdas own liquid better than anything. I have tried tablets, capsules and god knows what else but asda liquid comes up trumps!
I use the Cascade tablets and my dishes come out looking great. I even let them air dry, saves money in the long run there too.
Hee hee ... we've been using dishwasher for 20 years, basically I wouldn't even know how to do it manually !
One tip for you, only one : Don't buy expensive tablets but mainly, put only HALF of it ( or half of what they say you should use ) in your machine. You'll notice that too much of the product is not giving the best results; Less is best !
Try divide by 2 the "adviced" quantity. This hint was initially given to us by a professional and we still do folllow it. And, enjoy your free time : 20 minutes twice a day, for 4 persons , means one entire week of work per year.
I dont think it matters what tablets you use, non of them get my really caked up pots and pans clean unless i soak them first, just a little tip cut a lemon in half and keep it in your dishwasher to keep it smelling fresh it also helps to get glasses sparkling.
I have used a dishwasher for about 3 years now. I thought that it didn't matter what tablets to use, as long as I kept the salt and rinse aids topped up. At first all seemed fine. I used the supermarket own brand tablet. Then after I while I thought my glassware was not as sparkling and looked a bit dull. Crockery and pots and pans all seemed OK.I checked my machine, cleaned all the filters and made sure it was all topped up.The situation did not improve and if anything the glasses looked cloudier. Then Fairy introduced their new dishwasher bubble at a very low introductory price, so I thought I would try them.At first they seemed OK and after a few washes my glasses definitely seemed clearer. My impressions were that they did a better job than the own brand tablets. I carried on with them and then the price went up after the initial period so they were about the same price as Finish. The next time I needed tablets I bought Finish to see how they were and to my mind they were even better than Fairy. My glasses are now gleaming and I have stuck with Finish Powerball 5 in 1 . They were on special offer in my supermarket this week so I stocked up a bit.
No, they are not worth it - I have no idea what's happened to dishwasher detergents in the last couple of years - the price has gone through the roof, and none of them do their job properly. My cutlery often needs re-washing, and my glasses seem to get cloudier and cloudier.
May be it's something they are doing to the water?
They're just hyped to be convenient with an expense.
Liquid dishwasher gel is fine as long as you also use the jet-dry or a rinse agent to get clean and clear dishes. 5$ for ?20-30 loads is far cheaper and more reliable than hype.
I do not heat dry - I find this is where the clouding comes into play.
No, they are not worth the extra money, as they are the same as the powders, no different, they are just simpler to use this is all they are, nothing fancier. Good Luck !
The 5 in 1 are ok but they use they same amount of rinse aid & salt in every wash regardless of whether you're machine needs it. It's more cost effective to use liquid, rinse aid & salt separately. You're dishwasher will know how much to use in each program.
I usually order tesco 5 in 1 tablets from .com but sometimes I get the Finish ones as a substitution. I notice no difference at all. I always use Finish rinse aid, dishwasher cleaner once a month and the salt too so I don't think it makes any difference. The Finish stuff is way overpriced as far as I am concerned.
Yes, you get what you pay for in this world.
Finish.have found them to be the most effective.
