How can I wash blackout drapery?

Question:Our drapes have a rubbery (acrylic?) coating that makes them blackout. My fear is that putting them in the washing machine might somehow damage or break the coating. I've read about using a gentle cycle or hand washing but I would prefer an expert opinion or experience.

Answers:
woolite, in warm, in the tub, rinse well, hangdry

I would wash them on gentle with cold water and hang them to dry. Are there no manufacturer's instructions sewn on somewhere?
