How do I get rid of hard water stains on outside windows?

Question:I have tried CLR, Lime away, everything that is on the shelves that claims to remove those stubborn calcium stains. It's getting so bad that I can't see out my windows any longer. If you know of anything please let me know. ALSO, if you know anything I can put on the windows after I get that stuff off, that will help to keep it from buildilng up again I would appriciate it!! Thank you!

Answers:
I have a sprinkler that hits my front window and leaves these white stains, too. I literally had to use a razor blade to get them off because none of the same cleaners you already used worked for me either. Once I did get them off, I applied Glass Magic which leaves a film on the window and the water seems to just slide off and not leave the white stains. You have to reapply it when you start to notice that the window is getting cloudy.

PS Your glass may be permanently etched if the razor doesn't remove the white haze.

what i have used is car wax its alot of work but did the trick you need to wax the windows like you would your car then i applied rain x to all my windows.. they have looked brand new for yrs..
