Cleaning teddys?

Question:Hi, my daughters teddys are quite dirty, so i want to clean them, but they are quite fragile (hand and feets are close to being torn off). Theres no question of replacing the toys, so i was wondering if any ones got any tips on cleaning them. Thanks in advance !

Answers:
try putting them in a pillow case and wash on gentle cycle

I would wash them by hand in warm soapy water - rinse in clean water - then spin them if you can. I used to put them in the washing machine and then once dry - I put them in the freezer overnight - this freshens them up and kills bacteria!!
I would sew the hands and feet on as good as you can. Then put it in a pillow case and wash it in the washer. After it is done, take it and shake it out then put it on an air or fluff(no heat) cycle in the dryer. You could also just hang it to dry.
The safest and best way to wash any stuffed animal is to use a damp cloth and hand soap. Just wash gently. Then take another damp cloth and rinse until all soap residue is gone. Place in the sun to dry. They will be clean and and fresh. You really don't want to wash stuffed animals is the washer, as they are very hard to dry. Hand soap will remove all oils and dirt easily, and without soaking the stuffing. They'll even be nice and soft again!
here is a site with lots of ideas - i've tried the baking soda idea before - works ok to freshen them up
