It's in the padding. You will be able to cover it up, but it will come back when the carpet gets wet or the room gets hot. The products recommended will cover the smell for the time being.
you probably won't be able to as it is in padding and probably in wood under that if you have wood floors. you can go to vet they generally have (very pricey) carpet cleaner made specifically for that.
If your carpet it white, scrub with bleach. Otherwise, scrub with "mr.clean". Then, rent a carpet cleaner from Lowes and when you use that the smell should go away.
"Urinegone" at Petco or Walmart.
once its in the carpet its in the padding .. you will never get the smell fully out unless you replace the carpet with tile, you will just be covering up the smell and it will always come back...

Spray the area with vinegar then put a fan on it to dry.If it still lingers,spray again.Once the vinegar smell is gone it will smell real clean.Try it.I mop with it all the time...
Well, you probably wont get it totally out. There is stuff called Natures pet Its a red and white bottle found in your local pet store. It also is supposed to help stop them from doing it there again. Also you can get a powder to spread on your carpet by arm'n' hammer. Its a pet odor powder to sprinkle on before vacuuming.
