Can Anyone Tell me by Experience or Hands on Knowledge What I may Expect to Pay for Housecleaining?
Question:I live in the rural area of Northern Lower Michigan...."NOT" Manhatten! Labor rates up here for even skilled professional labor positions such as Electricians, Plumbers, Welders, and such are not real high (which is sad), but, I just turned down a lady whom didn't seem real motivated, let alone real professional that wanted $25.00 an hour to clean my home.
Now, I had a Carpenter that did the interior of my Garage by himself and did excellent work and only asked me for $10.00 cash money (under the table) per hour, but, I paid him $15.00 anyway which I suggested as I know carpenters from where I originally lived in Indiana get paid 17.00 - $25.00 an hour depending on the skills needed and the type work.
I do not lessen what a Cleaning Lady has to do by any means, but, one of my neighbors whom just passed on a Welding Job at a small factory for $7.95 and hour.
Anyway; any ideas? Or is there a site that lists what going labor rates are?
I appreciate any serious answers.

I live in NE Minnesota, rates here may be similar to what your area can support. For light cleaning, such as keeping tidy (a couple hours a day 2-3 times a week) $7.50- $8.00 an hour is a good starting point.. For heavy duty scrubbing and mucking out, such as the basement or attic you may look at $10.00 an hour.
I live in Boston and have a three bedroom/one bath walk up. I pay $80 and my service comes every other week. They do everything, trash, floors, bathroom, change the sheets, etc. (No laundry or dishes) This is the same thing I paid in Chicago for the same size place and services. Hope that helps.
II can't believe a licensed welder would make such a poor salary.I charge 85 dollars for a 2 bedroom, two bath house. It takes me 3 hours and I don't do windows.i do 4 a week-end and no one complains.I am also not a gardener or cook...
