How do you remove vegetable oil stains from a stone counter ?

Question:I have a new rock/stone kitchen counter that received oil/grease stains from hubby setting the spatula on the counter. (grrrr) I tried soap and water but the stains are still there. Any suggestions ??

Answers:
Dawn dishwashing liquid will release it from the stone because it breaks down grease. I would use it straight then rinse it a lot. You can also use cornstarch, baby powder or salt piled up on top it to absorb the grease.

soft scrub, comet cleanser or ajax, but with the last two I wouldn't scrub too hard...
