What is the best/fastest way to clean mini-blinds?
Question:...if possible without having to buy any special gadgets.
Answers:
Soak in the bath tub with a DEGREASER or soap scum remover type cleaner.
(X14 bathroom cleaner works)
If they are the plastic kind, just throw them in the tub and wash with a mild household cleaner.
Some people like to take them down and give them a good soak in the tub or take them outside and use something like Windex Outdoor. Just spray on the cleaner and rinse it off.
Take them outside hang them on something an spray them with a hose.
Dust with a lightly dampened cloth to grab the dust. Best way to do a good cleaning which I do 2x a year is pull them down, place in the bath tub, spray with Fantastic Spray, if necessary scrub with a scrub brush or rag, then spray off with cool water,(if they are plastic hot water can warp them), lay on a big towel to dry. Put a fan a few feet away and turn it on to quicken the drying process. Personally I prefer hanging them outside to dry as it's so much quicker, in the summer I even do the cleaning on an outdoor table.
Either hose them off outside and let dry or put them in the bathtub with water and a little bit of bleach.Swish them around and hang outside to dry.
There are a couple of things that I have done personally. I have taken them outside and hung them on my clothes line and give them a good spray with Simple Green, due to the fact I am very close by to grass and shrubs, and it is supposed to be very safe; but it works good at getting off grime, really fast. Then I take my water hose and spray of the solution along with dirt and grime.
The 2nd thing I have done is to put a couple of self-adhesive hooks up in my shower wall and hang the blinds on them and do the same as I did for outdoors, spray the Simple Green solution and then take and spray with water (if you have one of those spray attachments) and then let them hand dry or pretty darn close to it then hang them back up in the windows. Either way, you will get rid of dust, dirt and grime all at once.
