CLEANING ALUMINIUM. How do I do it?

Question:I have my gas cooker in a fully tiled area. The area was previously a well ventilated cupboard (or as our granny would say, it was once a larder!').

The 'larder's' wooden door frame was left, but in the interests of safety, I had all of the wooden frame very carefully covered with sheets of aluminium.

I notice that the aluminium near the cooker has become 'splattered' with grease and other marks.

I've tried washing the aluminium sheets with hot soapy water, but got a very poor result, then I tried a 'cream' cleaner, but that was of little good. Then I thought a scouring pad might work wonders, but all that did was to leave black patches on the aluminium sheeting.

Can someone, please tell me what I must do to get my aluminum sheets sparkling clean and free from all marks?

As I'm in the mood for house cleaning today, please come back soon with some answers.

you really need a metal polish. brasso may do it.
rubbing very lightl with a fine emery cloth. (keep the strokes even.)
if you haven't any of these a strong bleach shouldn't do it any harm.
it is possible however, that scouring has taken the finish off the metal. if this is the case you might not be able to get it back.
good luck

Hi
Try WD 40 it works well on stainless steel but try a small area first, if you've been as reckless as to use a scouring pad then you've nothing to loose by using a light abrasive such as T-cut or a chrome cleaning paste like Solvol Autosol, again try a small area first. Good Luck

try hot soapy water then try baby oil on a cloth it will leave it shiny then clean with ease in future the oil stops things from sticking to it !
Brasso-Solvol autosol or any other metal polish should do it.
You could try Astonish paste for cookers and cookware, I find this bring my aluminium cookware up a treat and it give a slight waterproof finish.
