Dry clean or wash on the delicate cycle and air dry. Is there a tag with washing instructions on it?
It should be dry cleaned to avoid shrinkage. Hand washing can also work.

Check to see if there is a manufactures label on it. Generally, delicates like that require a hand washing in cold water with a gentle detergent such as wool lite. One of the baby detergents may be suitable as well. I believe there is one called Dreft. I would fold it over a hanger and let it drip dry from the shower rod.
hand wash in mild soap ZERO fine fabric wash,and rinse.
I lie mine on a towel to dry , don't wring it out, just get as much water out as passable and put it on the towel to dry on the floor.
yes you should handwash it with a gentle color safe laundry detergent...in a sink and hang to dry..my sister used to rock these things when she was younger!
If it were me, I would take it to the cleaners, depending on how ornate it was...
if desperate to wear it, I would handwash with Zero or Woolite or similar in a cool water, hang to dry
