Answers:
Okay here is the problem. when a animal makes a spot in the house they contuinue to go there because the reconize the odor to eleminate the odor you need to kill the enzimes in the urine to do this you will need to make your own batch of hot hot hot water as hot as you can stand to touch and 4 parts white vinegar. the vinegar will kill the enzimes and the dog will not like the smell and will stop going in that area..

get some pepper from the pet shop and put it down
Rub his nose in it every time and so no no, good doggies go outside! OR put a cat box with litter there. He will either use the cat box or stop going there. Make sure you take him out to do his thing.
watch him if you see him head that way put him outside and scold him when he does it if you cant break him get potty pads at walmart or somewhere and maybe that will help...good luck
Plus he can smell the area still so he wants to go there.

Rent a deep carpet cleaner and clean it with a formula made for pet messes.
gate off the room and use Fabreeze for odors on the carpet spot. If you see him start to hunch over yell and take him out. If hes smart he'll catch on.
You may need to remove the carpet though if the odor is strong (to a dog) in it.
firstly you have to get the smell out of the carpet. I recommend Kids & Pets Odor Eliminator, you can get it just about anywhere.

Secondly, you will have to retrain housebreaking. The dog will pick it up quickly again and won't take very long to go back outside. Just pay more attention and when it heads for that room and the carpet take it outside.

If it is happening while you are away, put the dog in a crate before you leave and take it out when you get back. You will go back to the way it was in no time at all.
Dogs tend to go in places they've already went because they smell it. Use a deodorizer or something of that sort in the spot he went and he shouldn't try to go there anymore.
Someone suggested rubbing your dog's nose in the mess. Bad idea. Most of the other suggestions are sensible and might help. If you've tried everything else and nothing works, do a search for "Bach Flower Remedy" and add the word dogs or pets to the search. There are lots of different behavior problems that can be changed with this method.
