If I wash a "warm wash" item in cold, will it shrink?
Question:I want these pants to shrink... they are 65% polyester and 35% cotton and they are about 4" too long and a bit too big in the leg. I got them mail order and I don't have time to get a smaller size before I need them.
I'm supposed to wash them in warm but I have a different pair of pants to wash in cold. Can I wash them together and will they shrink if I wash them in cold?
Answers:
no, heat shrinks things...not cold. you would have to wash it in HOT and dry on the highest setting.
they will not shrink 4 inches though. you would have to hem the bottoms, or take them to a tailor to get it done if you dont know how.
They are not going to shrink if they have polyester in them. If you sew you can try altering them. Send them back-get another pair locally for your present need.
Polyester does not shrink
Polyester doesn't shrink. You could try washing in very hot water but I don't think the cotten content is enough to get them to shrink,Dry in hottest dryer setting.
You'll never get them to shrink four inches no matter what. You need to have them hemmed and taken in on the leg.If you don't know how then go to a tailor.
By the way, cold shrinks nothing. You need very hot for that.
have them repaired, take them to the dry cleaner´s . I sure they can have them taken in , and the hem shortened
