How should I clean puke stains on the carpet?

Answers:
When you have children and/or pets, vomit is an unpleasant reality that you may have to clean up now and then. It's important that you clean up immediately to avoid staining and to quickly disperse the unpleasant odor. Just follow these simple steps.

1)Remove the vomit from the carpet or other surface. Try to do this without spreading the mess around and be sure to wipe up any solids so that only the wet spot remains.
2)Sponge the spot stained by the vomit with cool water. Then add 1/2 cup of salt to 2 quarts of water and use this to further sponge the area and rinse with plain water. If this does not work, soak the stain for 30 minutes with cool water.
3)Blot the area again with a sponge and some diluted dish detergent until the stain is gone.
4)Pour baking soda over the area and let it soak in. This will help get rid of the odor.
5)Vaccuum up the baking soda.
6)Set a towel over the damp area, press down on the towel and leave it until the area dries completely.

Tips & Warnings
These steps work best on carpet and upholstered surfaces. For hard surfaces, it is much easier. Just dump baking soda on the vomit to help soak it up and get rid of the odor, then simply mop up the whole mess.
Be sure to test on chemicals on a small patch of the cloth surface to check for discoloration before actually applying the chemical to the entire dirty area.

Try this.just take one of those throw away floor wipes by swiffer or pledge etc. and rub the stain away.
When I was in 7th grade I did a science fair project, and my project was on carpet cleaning and finding which carpet cleaner worked best and I have thrown up before, so i guess you can call me an expert on the subject. In my findings the best way to clean carpet is by using any carpet cleaner you can buy in the store, club soda and other things like that won't work. If the the store bought carpet cleaner is not good enough, I would recommend shampooing the carpet. You can rent a carpet shampooing machine at places like Ralphs and Albertsons.
3% Hydrogen Peroxide and water.

Use a 50/50 solution, if it's pretty bad, you can use more peroxide than water, and if it's absolutely terrible, try straight peroxide. It also takes out any odor!!
