Help! Instructions for cleaning a filthy tub?
Question:This tub is real bad and slimy and greasy and stuff. Tried scrubbing with bleach and other cleaning products but the owner before me never cleaned it, so it is really bad. Any help?
Answers:
baking soda paste...just sprinkle baking soda all over and scrub with damp rag.
I know this sounds crazy, try WD40. It will take off all the build up of water and soap scum. Make sure you have plenty of air stirring when using WD40. Wd40 is a good water repellent.
Try Mr. Clean magic erasers, I tried everything on an old tub of mine that was completely disgusting and nothing worked until I tried them. They are awesome, they got everything off, the tub looked brand new when I was done.
your going to have to use some type of comet with a scrub. and chemical. Let it sit for a while before you start cleaning.
You can try Lime Away or Soft Scrub. They always work for me. But make sure you let it soak for about 10-15 min before you wash it.
The Works !! that is the only cleaners I use in my bathroom. They have The Works tub and Tile, The Works toliet cleaner and The Works sink and vaniety. The product is half the cost of most products and I think it works best of all. Plus there is less scrubing.
Some thing like a toilet ring, yo ,some pumming baack grounng, Rubber gloves to mprotect from corrorsivesw, light spongee sand paper ,hand scrubbing some times the only way , esay on the porcelin, lol?
Um...let's see. Usually you use bleach but, when you're tired of it you could look at what Mr. Clean products have. Mr. Clean really works...trust me, I use it.
Not too many people do this or know of it, but I use light grade drywall screen available in any hardware store. It's great for those toilets, too, that won't come clean with anything. Keep it wet and it takes anything plus rust right off.
Mr. Clean magic erasers will work! They are inexpensive and VERY good. I use them all the time on my tubs, and you will not believe how clean it will become, with not much effort! Trust me. Good luck.
Brillos will work, but try a test area first to make sure it doesn't affect the finish.
No one has mentioned OxyClean... if you just wet your tub and sprinkle liberally and leave it for a while... Get some S.O.S. and a little elbow grease and PRESTO! A new tub.
Close the drain. Llightly wet the tub with white distilled vinegar. Then sprinkle some baking soda all over the tub. It will start to fizz-this is normal. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. Add 1 cup of the vinegar and scrub with a scrub brush. Drain the vinegar and rinse.
