You can. Just put it in with a bit of TSP. The tricky part is drying it. The best thing to do is take it to a laundrette so that you can wash it in the double load machines and can dry it in the large tumble dryers. Just make sure that when you dry it, you only let it dry for about 10 minutes on low to medium heat, then stop to shake it out before putting it back in for about the same. Repeat until it's dried through. Other wise you end up with it drying unevenly, and the horrid stench of burnt feathers never comes out. Good luck!!
It is not recommended to wash goose down in the washer. The agitation of the washing machine will cause the feathers to shift and bunch and will never be the same again.
Is the care label no longer attached? I would recommend spot cleaning, or taking to the dry cleaner. Or what I do with my down pillows is put them out in the sun to kill odors and freshen.
I'd really recommend not doing it. I had read somewhere that you can, so I did it and now my quilt smells funny (I think the water and the goose down react some way) and isn't as fluffy as it used to be. Also, feathers frequently fall out through the seams. I've recently heard that it can damage your washing machine too (especially if it is double, queen or king in size) as it puts alot of stress on your machine. Best bet is to take it to a dry cleaner. It doesn't cost that much ($10 in Australia), and you get a fluffy, non smelling down blanket without the hassel (or wrecking your washing machine).

I wash mine in the machine all the time on gentle and it comes out fine evey time. It just takes a long time to dry in the dryer on delicate.
