I agree with the wax tarts; just spend the money for good smelling ones, not generic...it makes all the difference. Febreeze air fresheners are really good too; the ones in the can that you spray the air, not fabric.
You should go to Bath and Body and buy a vial of midnight pomengrante oil. Its like 8 bucks for a little vial, but just a few drops will do it. You can just put a few drops in a burner and put a tea lamp under it and it really makes you house smell great...sometimes you have to leave the house and come back to smell it cause you get used to it.
I know exactly how you feel I love coming home to a fresh smelling house. One thing that works really well for me is I make my own Febreeze. I find the liquid fabric softener that smells the best to me and in a spray you mix one part of the fabric softener with three parts water. This works great on carpet , bedding , curtains, furniture, and a air freshener. I am really drawn to the smell of clean linen. I love the Oust air freshener in the clean linen scent , and the also have plug in fans , and an oil air freshener that is made to set in a small places. I also found out that Renuzit “sorry about the spelling” has there own version of Febreeze it’s really cheap and it works great . It comes in three of four different scents there is Clean Breeze , Citrus , Apple Blossom , and I think Mountain Fresh. I found all of this stuff at Wal-Mart I hope this helps you and please let me know if you find anymore good ideas.
I melt wax tarts in an electric burner. I use them till the scent is gone, usually 3-5 days then change the wax & scent & new refreshing scent! Here is a web site where you can order both.(The scented tarts & electric tart burners.)Or go to a Hallmark store & check out their tarts(with the Yankee Candles)& burners.
what works great for me is a combo of the wax melts going constantly, lamp rings with a drop of oil, plug ins (but in certain scents, the best ones I have purchased has been at bath and body works) and a good linen spray.
I found that after awhile of using something just like a bad odor a good odor will stick around in your house, so it may take a few weeks of keeping up with the scent routine for it to "build up".
