I found little red tick looking bugs w/6 legs in my pile of dirty laundry clothes in the basement any ideas?
Question:Round bodies
Answers:
I found one in may basement the other day too, I never saw anything like it before. It was BRIGHT reddish-orange & looked like a big one of those little strawberry mites you see crawling on stones sometimes outside on hot days. It was maybe about half the size of a pencil eraser. ...and I found it chillin' in the middle of the bathroom floor. I had no idea what it was, so I just squished it.
If you ever find out what it was, please email me and let me know too!
...and in response to the answer below mine, the one I saw was not a bed bug, it was too big and bedbugs are not that color. ...You scared me (lol), so I also just looked at the pics of a bedbug on yahoo and it did not look like that, I'm positive.
...OK, I looked up chiggers and that looks like them, except the one I saw looked bigger, the chiggers look almost microscopic and this was definitely bigger than microscopic. My cousin used that bathroom earlier that day and he does have a lotta weeds around his house, maybe it fell off of him, who knows. Gross! At any rate, I killed it!
I found a pic of what mine looked like. I think the one I saw was a large Velvet mite. If it had a round body and was bright orange-red, it was probably a mite. If it had a tapered end and was more of a rusty brown color, it may have been a bedbug. See my link, just scroll down to the bottom of the page. Is that what yours looked like?

bedbug if you see one you are infested. look the little critter up on the web
Hate to tell you this but.sounds like bedbugs and if you have one you have bunches.
you got bed bugs dear, fully wash your clothes, bleach the whites and air dry them if possible. air out your mattresses.
Get a disinfectant, lysol is good or a medical powder then spray the mattresses completely cover them on every side. let air dry for four to eight hours remember to flip them every two hours to fully expose the surfaces to the sunlight. this will help kill the eggs and larva.
field day the laundry area use bleach where ever possible to kill any lingering bugs spray the area.
further information can be found by calling your local pest control agent or the web search for bed bugs
If it is "bedbugs" you can if you are up to it... Get the big contractor black garbage bags put your mattress inside..Use acouple and drag your mattress outside to bake them in the sun the heat will kill them... Then vacuum your mattress and spray with lysol.. I would also invest in a rubber/plastic cover for my mattress.good luck
