The mold is an indicator of moisture. Water vapor condensates on the glass and drips onto the area around the windows. Wipe area down with a 25% bleach solution, careful not to get it on the carpet or draperies, let it dry and seal the area with either new paint with the anti-microbe mold inhibitor or a clear acrylic finish for wood. The new finish is your first line of defense against a recurrence. It also makes it easier to treat if it is chronic.
