How does the process of dry cleaning work?
Question:
Answers:
They use a chemical called perc, I don't know how to spell the full name of the stuff, and a thick soap. The clothes toss like a front load machine in the perc. Then it drains into a holding tank. Then fresh perc is added for a rinse and it is drained into another holding tank. Then the clothes are dried, in the same machine. (The thing is, dry cleaning will not remove body order! But it does remove grease!) If there is a spot on your clothes, they pre-spot them, and let them dry completely before dry cleaning as a damp spot will have all the color removed when put in the perc. (There is another chemical they can use but it doesn't clean as well.) When the "wash water", so to speak of perc is dirty, they run it through a distilling process to clean it. They can reuse perc for a long time with the distilling process. Perc, when smelled, will burn up your lungs! I know there are places on-line that will show you the process. Hope this helps.
