First off - I can't believe some jerk wrote that about about Summer's Eve. They need to pay more attention on this site to people who just want to be smart-asses. But bleach IS the best thing to use.You can't really leave the door open, like someone suggested(if you have food in there!), but just wash everything down with any soap and bleach. I used to work at a seafood restaurant :)
you can empty everything out of the fridge and use hot water and bleach to clean it and after you have done that than put 1 box of baking soda in the fridge it should take care of the smell.
Have you tried Summers Eve? I mean lets be honest here, the fridge don't smell, if it did you could just remove the fish.
You could remove everything from the fridge and use a solution of vinegar and water. It is a good cleaner and deodorizer.
What you could do is use lemon juice or fresh cut lemons squeezed on a bowl with water... wipe inside the fridge with a cloth. Then after, get some hand sanitizer and wipe inside the fridge again. Finally, find a way to rub toothpaste inside as well. I think it 'should' get the smell out or at least improve the smell. Ideally, it is meant for hand smells. but it's worth a try!
well, take everything out of the fridge, wipe it down with diluted lemon juice. organic and safer than chlorox. you can place a lump or so of charchoal in your fridge on the long term. it absorbs orours. :)
You need to take everything out of the fridge. Wash it thoroughly with baking soda and vinegar. Rinse thoroughly. Rinse everything that has to go back in with detergent followed by water. This would include plastic and glass containers. If open food has absorbed the fish smell, you need to wash it off if you can - like fruits and vegetables, or throw it out if you can't. Big job, I know, but necessary.
Vinegar might help. THe smell is ammonia.
Try putting a charcoal briquet. Works on the same principle as Baking soda and the charcoal stuff on the filter for aquariums.
Wash it down with 1 part vinegar to about 7 parts warm water.
Spray with vinegar and wipe out.Let dry than spray again...
I found the perfect product made just for this that I've used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a natural carbon product called FRIDGE IT carbon odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great and eliminates the odors and for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda all those sprays, and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. and gels and oils that say keep away from fabric, pets, etc. and just don't eliminate odors. Just put a couple in fridge and freezer . Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it and internet. Definitely worth trying
