How should I stay organized?

Question:Okay, I'm always cleaning my room. I clean really good and after after like two days its all messy again. I've tried making chore charts, small posters to remind me, but my room always looks like a tornado hit. Does any one have any advice for me?

Answers:
Don't be a pack rat. Go through everything in your room see what you really need, put those items in containers or in boxes and store them away neatly. If it's things you don't need or can't use, either throw out, give to friends who might need them, or donate to good will or a thrift store. Same go for clothing, put your winter clothes in containers when it's warm out or on top the shelf in your closet (if you have one). Vice versa for summer clothes. Instead of throwing a t-shirt, pair of shorts, or jeans whereever, take the extra time to fold, hang-up, or put in laundry basket. If you have ink pens or school supplies, either buy a turntable or caddy to store everything in. Or make your own out of like a pringle can for small pens, pencils, or ruler in; an oatmeal container for slightly larger objects; or even a shoe box to put sticky notes, memo pads, stationary, and envelopes in. You decorate how ever you like. Sometimes staying organized may take more than just written notes or charts. Mostly remeber when you take something to put it back right away or it won't get put up. Plus it might make you feel better at night to go to sleep in a clean room and not have to worry about cleaning up the next day.

You need to concentrate on putting things back to where you take them from.
move everything out of your room. clean it, and only stay in that room empty for two weeks. after, bring only your essentials to the room, and stay in the room for two weeks, and then you bring some more of your essentials. repeat so often, then you will start putting things where they are. imagine it as if you are conducting an experiment, think of it as the skinner's box.
Yes, put things back where you got them and I'm assuming you try on several outfits a day or change a lot. Either put the clothes in the laundry basket or fold them and stack them neatly somewhere.
my girls have a couple of "rules" that help them to keep their rooms orderly.
The first is everything has a home and everything in its home. It is really hard to keep things clean if everything does not have a place. Get rid of the things that you do nto need, then organize your room using containers, baskets, organizers ,etc. Keep all like things together. Once you put the roomtogether and put things in their home, after lving in the room for a couple fo weeks you might find oyurself changing it around , reorganizing to suit your needs and routines, but once oyu get it together it will work well, especially if you keep yourself in the habit of always putting everything back in its home when you are done using it. You may tey keeping a basket by your door for those times when you are in a rush and cannot take the time to put things away- instead of putting it on the floor or piling it on a desk or dresser, drop it in the basket, then later that day or the next take the time to put the things in the basket away.

Another good rle is no clothing on the floor EVER. Clothes go on the body, on a hanger, in a drawer or in the laundry hamper, never, even in a rush or when drop dead tired , put the clothing on the floor- it is a bad habit and the fastest way to get a messy room.

Every night as part of your bedtime routine, do a 5 minute tidy- look around the room and pick up any trash (get yourself a waste basket if you dont have one) put away the little things that seem insignificant: personal care items, pencils, scraps of paper, etc.

Doing little things to keep up with clutter will help tremendously in the long run
I had this same problem in my college apartment... What worked for me was quite simple. I mercilessly went through my stuff, I mean everything. Put your things into 4 piles: 1. essentials things for the room, 2. things for other rings, 3. things in good shape you no longer want/need, these will be to donate 4. trash. Go through your things, and put them into the piles. Don't think twice about them. For clothes, if you haven't worn them in the past year, don't like the way they look, or they don't fit, put them into the pile to donate. For books, if you haven't read them in 2 years, donate them. Tear pages out of magazines that you want to keep, and throw the magazine away. You can file the articles in three ring binders, with an index. Basically, the less things you have, the less there is to clean. After you've gotten rid of things, look at what is left. Some things may belong in other rooms. Put them in those rooms. Next, think about seasons. Do you need the wool sweater in your closet in July? Put those things in a rubbermaid tub with a label on it, and move it to a basement, attic or other storage area. Whatever is left in the room needs a home. Make a home for everything. In my closet, I have just enough hangers for each article of clothing. I have just enough shelf space for the books, no more. Look for storage everywhere. Get risers and flat tubs to have storage under the bed for sheets and extra blankets. Over the door hangers are great too. Get a small laundry bag/hamper that holds a single load of laundry. When its full, do the wash. If everything has a place, you will notice what is not in its proper place. At the end of everyday before going to bed, do a quick sweep of the room, and put things away. It took me a bit to get used to, but if you make a routine of it, you'll catch on.
Waiting for the best answer !!. Experiencing the same problem ...
Compromise , this is my LIVING ROOM more lively !!
15 minutes to 1/2 hour before you go to bed each night, spend that time putting things away. If you can, get up 15 minutes earlier and devote that 15 minutes to putting things away. Before you know it, you will only need 15 minutes in the evening to keep your room neat. 21 days of repetition will become a habbit for you, so the "experts" say. (mom of 5)
How to Keep a Bedroom Tidy

A messy room is often the hallmark of a typical child or teenager (and, surprisingly, even some adults!). These tips will show you how to keep your room looking, if not perfect, at least presentable.
Steps
1. Have an incentive. Have your parents offered some kind of reward to clean your room? Is your boyfriend/girlfriend coming over for the first time, and you want to leave a good impression? Are you moving/going on vacation anywhere? Are you having difficulty finding your possessions beneath the knee-high pile of clutter covering your floor? All of these can be good reasons to get cleaning!
2. Decide what is essential, preferable, and unnecessary for your room. This will help you prioritize what you want sitting out, and what you can afford to stash away most of the time.
3. Find storage space. Dresser/desk drawers, closets, space under the bed, attics/basements, spare rooms. Whatever works, put your extra stuff there. Have a system for storing clothes, both clean and dirty.
4. Pick up your stuff. Start with large items first, then move on to papers, etc.
5. Keep the room clean by vacuuming, scrubbing, washing, dusting, or whatever else you need to do to keep it presentable. If your stuff starts accumulating again, just take a few minutes each day to put everything where it belongs.
6. Try to make a deal with your parents concerning you getting a reward every month your room stays clean, neat AND organized... even if it is a small treat, it's still worth it!

Tips [edit]

* Try to reward yourself in some way every time you clean your room. This might be anything from a cookie to seeing that new summer blockbuster.
* Everyone goes about tasks differently. Some people prefer cleaning a bit every day, others like to attack everything in one sitting. Find out what works best for you.

Warnings [edit]

* There's a difference between clean, neat/tidy, and organized. For a bedroom to truly function well, all three of these qualities must be met.
- CLEAN: not dirty. This is when you wipe the dust off the bookshelf, vacuum the carpet, scrub the floors.

- NEAT/TIDY: Looking presentable. Straightening the books on the shelf, keeping all your pencils the right way up.Sometimes, even the little things can make a big difference.

- ORGANIZED: Ah, the most misunderstood term of all. Organized means that you are/will be able to find anything in the room. You have a 'home' for all of your belongings. Now, not only can you impress you boyfriend/girlfriend by looking good, you can also find the cards and flowers!
