Vinegar taste after descaling kettle?
Question:I gave my sister the idea of descalng her kettle using vinegar, as suggested here by many people. Now her kettle looks lovely and clean, but she can't get rid of the vinegar taste (lots of rinsing and 7 boils later)!
How can she get rid of the taint? Is it just perseverence? Or does anyone have a magic solution please?!?
Answers:
Try bicarbonate of soda, gets rid of lots of tastes and smells. Boil the kettle, when it stops bubbling, add a teaspoon of bicarb, and leave it for an hour or so, rinse a couple of times making sure to rinse the lid as well.
Another tip - if you use filtered water in the kettle it stops it from furring up.
Look for an old-fashioned Ironmongers and get one of the metal mesh kettle descalers. They bounce around inside whilst boiling and that should(in time)both get rid of the smell of Vinegar and keep it descaled in the future.
Did you use too much vinegar?
Buy a new kettle that will work.
salt in the kettle and boil and empty 3 times should be ok good luck silver fox.
Hi Usually the vinegar to use is white vinegar did youuse malt vinegar which is stronger smelling??
Try some lemon juice in the kettle and boil it up that or bicarb may help.
