How do you easily clean a venetian blind?

Question:I have four large metal blinds that need cleaning. I need help

Answers:
Fill your bath with hot water and old fashioned soap flakes

Take the blinds down and drop them in the bath. Use a new handheld brush to scrub off the grime, wipe with a cloth, put outside to dry off after showering them down to get rid of the soap. This should also help to clean up the strings. Or you could try the Vanish OxyWhite, but this is much more expensive.

If I was you, I'd ask a venetian.
i saw on a cleaning programme they got a metal ruler and wrapped a wet rag round and round it then ran it across the surfaces of each part so it picked up the dust.
You can get grooved sponges from betterware that do a decent job, feather duster OK as well
Take them down from the brackets, ours just slide out, fill the bath with hot water and bio washing powder and dunk them in for a few minutes and wipe with a cloth. Let them drain for a couple of minutes and rehang them. All the tapes and cords come clean as well.
I saw this on How Clean Is Your House:
get a little metal ruler, wrap a damp rag around it and then wipe it gently across each blind :D simple
And this way you don't spread dust all over the place, as you would with a duster.
Can you wait till i ask the maid ?
There should be an attachment on your vacuum cleaner that would work, the one with the brush. I used to clean houses and that's what I always used. Vacuuming is the fastest easiest way.
Oh, you can also use a damp cloth if needed.

The swiffer dusters actually work quite well on dust build-up. My blinds get more than that in my kitchen however and I do best one a year to sprayon or dampen a rag with a watered down(more water) cleaner like Mr Clean and just go at them one by one. It takes a bit but then you can keep up with dusting only for a long time. First tilt one way and clean, then the other---put one the radio-it helps!
i do mine in the bath x get a friend with a screwdriver to help you.
buy new ones
Either put the blinds in a tub or hang them outside , spray them down with an orange cleaner and let them soak for a few minutes then rinse them off with water. Works great with white blinds.
I have 20 of these buggers, so I do one each week in rotation.

I have one of those vacumn attachments for blinds to keep them dust free, but the beastly mess is from the sticky car exhaust/outside dust that accumulates when the windows are open.

I soak one in the tub/shower each week with degreaser (Dawn Dish Detergent) and really hot water for about 20 minutes. Then after a few up and downs I hang it in the shower and rinse it off with the shower massage on tingle/pulse.

After that I finish by scrubbing the tub/shower - though by then most of the work is done. I love two-fors when it comes to cleaning.
You do need help. I have the theory that this is why they are less popular than they used to be. Either clean each surface (a pain) or Take them down and wash them. I had some on the outside and I used a hose. Worked fair.
The easy way is to hire someone to do it for you. I have done all four ways, and this is the easiest and the best.
fill your tub with **** and span..allow them to soak, drain water turn on shower and rinse..as easy as that..or take them to a hand car wash hang them on the mat holders, stand back and wash, turn them around then rinse...
old pair of thick socks warm soapy water and a dry pair to dry off, lovely clean blinds put a towel down to catch the drips.
I buy cheap ones to start with. I do dust, with the vacuum, but when they get really dirty, which they will eventually, in spite of dusting, I go get more cheap ones. Great thing is that once you have the brackets, you have the brackets. Don't have to go through that again. I have washed them in the tub, hot water, soap and a brush, thick socks on my hands, sponge, etc. without taking them down, but after I got cut cleaning them and needed stitches for the second time, I figured cheap blinds really are cheaper.
Got metal blinds myself, i use a feather duster. Just be careful to move the things out of the window then you can give them a right swipe...
We used tae shove oors in the bath, then we got wise and flung them in the skip!!
I put my blinds in a the bath with warm soapy water
I leave them soak for a while then wash them with a sponge the dirt comes off really easy then rinse them in a bath of cold water then lean them against the side of the bath to dry
put them in the bath and full with hot water, put a good amount of amonia in, make sure to venelate, soak and wipe they come out all clean.
i unclip mine lay them in the garden..spray with kitchen cleaner...leave it on for at least 15 mins to lift the grease off ...then i sponge over with warm soapy water ..then hose them down ..SPARKLING lol
Liquid Spc-n-Span detergent (sometimes hard to find the liquid) same as what 'redshoes' had stated. Spc-n-Span does NOT leave a residue for dust to stick onto it within a week like Mr. Clean, Pine Sol, etc... although the blinds will look, feel & smell clean. Wash in bathtub with a scrub brush. Rinse hang outside to dry, & replace on windows.
lay them in you bath in warm soapy water. hang them over your washing line. a job for a sunny day.
I tried cleaning mine in the bathtub once and it turned out disastrous. Everything got tangled up and I wound up throwing them away. I've heard using cotton gloves, wiping each piece between your fingers works. Time is money, and it takes a long time to clean them. I find it's more economical to replace them.
