Dishwasher door closed or open - to dry dishes?

Question:I'm new to dishwashers...

What do people think is the best way to dry dishes in a dish washer?

Do you open the door a little once the cycle has finished to let the wet steam out or keep it closed for longer?

Does opening it mean there is more chance of runs & streaks on glasses?

Any good tips? Thanks!

Answers:
If your machine has a drying cycle then it is designed to heat dry them. This really will reduce spots. (If a glass is super hot the water evaporates very quickly) Also if you live in a climate where it's warm right now you don't want the added heat in your home by leaving the door open. However,in the winter here when the air is very dry I sometimes leave it open just to get the moisture into the air, Hope this helps and congrats on not have to do dishes anymore!!

Always closed - surely its the heat that dries them anyhow!

Mind you, I leave it ajar during the day until I have refilled it.
I always open the door to let my dishes air dry,it's fast and saves energy.=)
i open mine it lets all the steam out and stops the cutlery from going rusty.
you have to leave it shut. but to help with the streaks just add some white vinegar to the load it will leave them streak free.
