How do you hand-wash clothes & get stains out?

Question:I guess it's a two part question. I have a pretty good idea on how to hand-wash clothes, but any tips or ideas would be great. The second/main part is, how do I get stains out and how do I get the ring around the collar out? I'm kind of new to this - being spoiled with washing-machines and all, but some can't go in there. Oh and the shirt is white and has my name stamped on it by a press or whatever in blue, so I don't want to lose that. There are stains elsewhere on the shirt. Thanks.

Answers:
It depends on the stain. If you treat the stain before it's washed then it should come out. Put laundry detergent or dish detergent directly on the stain and let it sit for a minute or two before washing. You want to use dish detergent on any kind of grease stain because dish deteregent has an agent in it for fighting grease. Laundry deteregent should work on most other stains. Blood and grass are hard to get out. Try to put laundry detergent on them immediately. If you are hand washing then you will probably need to rub the stains. You can do this by hand or get a soft brush. Make sure the stains come out before you put any clothing in the dryer. Once a stain goes through the dryer it's pretty well set. Try laundry detergent, dish detergent, vinegar or bleach (if it's white) for the ring around the collar. For your white clothing use bleach. Use an old toothbrush or Q-tip or something to put the bleach directly on the stain, keeping it off of your name. Or get one of the bleach pens. I haven't tried them but I've heard they work. Then wash as usual.

what I use is oxy clean to soak my stains and it's good for ring around the colar to after you had them soaking awhile scrub it see if it comes out if not let soak awhile longer
Don´t worry we all have to start some where. For the collar and those underarm stains. The best think is the good old fashioned bar soap. Natural soap. It´s normally brown in color, you can buy this in most hardware stores. Soak your shirt in cold water. Remove from the water and add the soap. Leaving the soap on and still free from water, say 1/2 hr should be enough, this let´s the soap do it´s work. Now back to water, give a little rub to the stains, remove from water add more soap, If your shirt can go in the machine , then pop it in on a low temp. even the lowest , 30ºc- or 40ºc. Once done hang outside in the sun. The sun will bleach your shirt whiter than white and bleach out any remaining stains , the natural way. If it can´t go in the machine, then rinse off all the soap and hang outside. Hope this help´s
