Do I need to vacuum my carpet immediately prior to shampooing it?

Question:

Answers:
Absolutely. That layer of dust and fine dirt can block absorption of some of the cleaning agents and you will not get as clean of a carpet as you want. Also, carpet cleaners (especially home ones) do not have a filter system for hair and dirt. It will just clog up and make it harder to clean.

It is best to vaccuum it prior to shampooing it so your shampooer don't get clogged up.
no no no, that is the worst thing you could possibly do! you ned to leave it for atleast 5 days for the shapoo to really settle in and get that deep clean you really seek!
Yes, you should. If you just start shampooing it, it will pick up all sorts of hair and stuff. Vacuum it really good (move the furniture and stuff) before you start to shampoo.

Good luck! :)
Definatly and much more than you normaly would. Think of it this way: you wouldn't wipe off the kitchen table and call it clean without removing the dirty dishes from it first.
I would yes, It will pick up any loose stuff , like pet hair, that is lying around and thus the shampoo can get into the spot it is supposed to.
I don''t think you should do it right now because you should let the shampoo do its work before you vacuum it.
Yes because if you don't you will create a mud bath inside the shampooer as well as hair and gravel bits that accumulate in your carpet. You will get a much cleaner look to your carpet and less mess to clean out of your shampooer.
I would vacuum my carpet before shampooing it because you will get it cleaned better and the shampooer won't get clogged up.
Absolutely. I have my own steam cleaner that I use regularly and most steam cleaners/shapooers have no sort of bag or catch area for solids (only for liquids) so if you don't vacuum the solids, debris can clog or wreck the shampooer. Second, the debris will limit the effectiveness of the shampooer anyway just because it will soak up some of the shampoo.
If you want to get your money's and effort's worth out of the shampooing, vacuuming first is a capital idea.

Both processes only remove part of the dirt that's in your carpet; you could repeat each process multiple times and still get more stuff out of your carpet (depending on how long it's been installed).

The best way to get carpet clean is remove it; but I doubt you're ready for that.
You should vacum it prior to cleaning it as well as right after it dries...that way you get up everything you can.
While you don't have too, it is recomended that you do. Vacuuming removes up to 79% of loose dirt in the carpet. the example i was given was, it is like sweeping a floor before mopping it.
I vacuum my carpets, then shampoo them, then once they are good and dry, I vacuum again.
