How do I keep my home from being dusty?

Question:I live in an apartment and it gets so dusty so quickly. It seems like I have to dust once a week, especially near my electronics. Is there anything I can do to keep the dust build up to a minimum?

Answers:
the filter in your a/c may need to be changed. Also, if you live by a dirt road or where construction is going on, dust is impossible.
Vacuuming helps and that's about I can think of, I have a dusty house too, I hate it. but I do what I suggested and it does help.

I also hate those darn fuzz balls under the bed. I have hard wood floors and the blow around when I vacuum

replace or clean filter for the HVAC system more often
You could try an Air Ventillator. I have really bad allergies, so I keep one in my room to suck up the dust. It will definately keep your dust to a minimum.just make sure you clean your unit once every other week or so.
try the filters you put in all your air vents. they worked for us.
and vacumming & dusting once a week helps too.
it's good for your health to dust every week... most people do.. or at least should... unfortunately , dust will always vex us!
Electronic potable air cleaner
Hire a housecleaner or sweep and dust at least 3 times a week.
Burning candles eat dust. You could burn lots of candles.

Keep a swiffer near your electronics and give them a good swipe when you turn them on/off. The rest of your apt. probably doesn't need it as often?
make your whole family exfoilate.. most of that dust is dead skin..
Keep the windows closed and get an air filter. Make sure your vacuum cleaner is quality had the filter is clean.
Dusting weekly isn't ABnormal...most of us do. ;-)

In addition to making sure all your air filters are changed regularly (I change mine once a month w/ the cheap ones... you can go 2-3 months with the more expensive ones), and keeping your windows closed to reduce dust/pollen intake, you should also consider an air cleaner such as the Sharper Image MIDI or QUADRA (see link, below... note the second one is 1/2 price)... it's amazing (and grotesque) to see what it collects.

Another way to reduce dust roaming your home is to have a welcome mat OUTSIDE your front/back doors, and a small carpet-like rug INSIDE your front/back doors, and another in your kitchen doorway. Making sure you & your guests remove your/their shoes upon entry will also keep dust to a minimum.

Also, you can reduce the amount of dust being attracted to your electronics by --after cleaning them w/ an appropriate cleaner-- LIGHTLY rubbing them w/ a fabric softener dryer sheet. This will reduce the natural "static cling" things like TV screens have and you'll find far less dust on 'em week-to-week.

Hope this helps,

silly q dust is falling all the time we cant stop it all over dust required every wk for the average household if you dont want dust in your house live somewhere else lol
You can make your own home made dust repellent all you need to do is mix liquid fabric softner to 4 parts water. Spray on or apply with a soft cloth and dry cloth. This will repel the dust. You could also try the fabric sheets but it probably wont work as good!
