Getting stains off lineoleum floors?
Question:I just rented an apartment where the last owner clearly didn't think much of cleaning: there is a lineoleum floor in the kitchen which is mounded with dirt and stains. I've used ammonia to take the worst up but two stains remain: I'm pretty sure they are heavy grease. Does anyone have any good tips for cleaning lineoleum floors of such stains?
Answers:
with leno good luck, stubborn stains will penatrate under the clear layer which will never come out.
If it is a stain on the top you might try rubbing alcohol in small portions. It will remove any gloss so the floor will have to be waxed or polished. but that should help.
Try some tooth paste (the paste not the gel) and a damp rag.
Ground-in Dirt in Linoleum
To remove ground-in dirt from linoleum, Armstrong makes a great product called New Beginning. It´s a floor stripper and cleaner and is great for removing tough ground-in dirt, especially if left to sit on the soiled area for a while to penetrate the dirt. Also, when cleaning that area, make sure to use a soft bristle scrub brush, not just a cloth or a mop. You may want to follow New Beginning with Armstrong´s Shinekeeper Floor Polish to keep the finish looking new after using the floor stripper.Good Luck!..=)
Try a degreaser such as Greased Lighting or Purple Power
I had this problem and used electrasol dishwasher soap .
I put some all over the floor and moped it in and left it for
10 mins then rinsed it with clean water and did a final
rinse with white vinegar and it came up fantastic.
Good Luck.
I use to clean apartments to get them ready for new tenets. Simple Green. Spray it on the greasy spot strait, don't dilute it like the directions say, that is for regular greasy spots. Let it set until the greasy loosens up. The longer you can let it soak the easier it will be to clean. If it is very stubborn, scrub it it a stiff bristled brush, or a scotch brite.
If that doesn't work, try WD-40. It will smell awful, but will remove the grease, then simple green will remove the WD-40
Sometimes you can remove the grease, but it sat for so long it still stains. After removing the grease, strip the spot with ammonia. Let it dry VERY well, then pour bleach on the spot. Let it set, then wipe it up, and rinse.
